Default Anyone using linux?

I'm using Linux/Ubuntu 6.10 to connect to the site. I got the feeds working by installing the MPlayer plugin for Firefox. But it's not working totally smoothly. It seems to buffer for a 2 or 3 minutes before the feed starts, which is not what I experience on my other systems running Media Player in Windows.

Just wondered if anyone had any tweaks or suggestions for a different plugin to get it working a little more nicely.

Thanks - love this site!

Kolin

Hi again,

Thanks for replying.

I have tinkered with this problem on and off for a while, and haven't found a happy solution. The problem seems to be that I don't have a required codec (I get a message saying I need a speech decoder codec) since I'm not using Windows Media Player. I know . . . it says it's required.

Too bad because the streams on www.liveatc.net work for me just fine, but I understand there are different types of feeds.

I will continue to tinker with this problem when I can and if I find a working solution for linux users (in my case Ubuntu Feisty 7.04) I will post back to this forum.

Regards,

Kolin

Hi again,

Well maybe this is just a dialog with myself . . . Maybe it will help some other linux users out. I thought I had tried everything to get it working. Finally tonight I came across the combinaton that works. I uninstalled the totem-mozilla plugin and installed mplayer-mozilla. I'm using firefox, obviously. In Ubuntu 7.10, with all the multimedia codecs installed. You have to be patient for the stream to load or buffer or whatever, but it seems to be working reliably with the mplayer plugin now.

If you are running Ubuntu and are still having problems drop a line and I might be able to help!

Thanks for the feeds,

Kolin
